All Special Event ticket holders will be eligible for exclusive special event giveaway items. Please note that some items are "gate giveaways" and are given only to a select number of attendees on a first-come and until-available basis. The Center Member ticket availability is limited and on a first-come basis.

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. All GAME TICKETS ARE E-TICKETS AND WILL BE ELECTRONICALLY TRANSFERRED to the purchaser starting May 1. Ticket transfers will be conducted every week leading up to the game. Buyers will receive an email with instructions on how to access their tickets once transferred. Buyers will need to download the MLB Ballpark app to gain access to tickets.
  2. Once tickets are received you will then have access to send tickets to others in your group.

For 1st time participants, instruction fees are waived, but a $15 payment for materials is required.  1st time participants must register 48 hours in advance so that we can notify the instructor to pick up additional materials

For single day/drop-in class signups, please allow for 1 week advance notice so that our instructor can confirm and provide enough supplies for the scheduled class date.

Designed for seniors who want to build physical strength and improve body balance and muscle flexibility. We are now offering this weekly class online on Zoom during the COVID-19 closure. Participants are advised to sit in a chair, wear comfortable, loose clothes and have a water bottle close by. Registration will close 24 hours in advance of each session. Participants will receive Zoom login information via e-mail upon registering in advance.

Emphasis of the class will be primarily on Hawaiian song traditions.  Approach to playing the ukulele focuses on the basic chords and rhythmic strumming techinique. 

This class is open to all levels.

The Center is pleased to offer our members open gym for those that are 60+ years beginning on Friday, March 8, 2024.  We will host open gym every Friday through the end of May.  Come and shoot, dribble, practice your trick shots and get some exercise!

FOR THE AUGUST 31 - Golden State VALKRIES vs. Indiana FEVER (Caitlin Clark) - the first 100 tickets sold include access to the pregame shootaround experience in the Lower Level. You must arrive and enter at 4:00 p.m. at a designated entry spot.  SPECIFIC DETAILS WILL BE SHARED AT A LATER DATE. If you are late, you may lose access to this experience.   

The Valkyries are led by the first Asian American WNBA Head Coach Natalie Nakase. Coach Nakase grew up playing basketball in the Japanese American community leagues in Southern California before she was the starting guard for the UCLA Bruins. Coach Nakase then played in the National Women's Basketball League (NWBL) and Germany before a career-ending injury. Coach Nakase spent the last three years (2022-2024) as first assistant coach with the Aces, where she played a critical role guiding the team to back-to-back WNBA Championships (2022, 2023). She spent 10 seasons in various capacities with the Clippers, most recently as an assistant coach and player development coach in a dual role with the NBA team and their G League affiliate.

A shared evening of cooking and dinner with recipes from the community!

We are so excited to be bring back Community Kitchen to the Center! Join us in celebrating the in-person reopening of our ongoing communal dinner program on our new program day Sunday, August 15, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Community Kitchen is organized by volunteers to bring members of our community together to learn how to cook Japanese and Japanese American family recipes and to share a multi-generational communal dinner. Adapting our Baachan's Kitchen program started in 2016, our Community Kitchen is open to all who want to enjoy and share Japanese home-style cooking while connecting with the community.

Each dinner consists of a menu determined in advance by the Community Kitchen volunteer committee, who then instruct and assist attendees in preparing the dishes on the menu. Participants of all ages and backgrounds are welcome! Just be prepared to help in the preparation, cooking, and cleanup, but most of all, to have a great time!

Have you wanted to start researching your family history but didn’t know how to begin? Did you start your family history journey, only to get stuck, or hit a brick wall? Do you want to write your family story, but need some assistance?

Please join genealogist Linda Harms Okazaki as she takes you on a genealogy journey. She will guide you through the research and help you to write your story. Participants may register for individual workshops or for the full course at a discounted price. Each session includes a homework assignment and culminates with sharing your final written project. Video recordings of each workshop will be available to enrolled participants following each session for a limited time. Full course registration includes the option to create and print a hardcover photobook of your family history on Shutterfly.

The series begins October 17, 2024 at 6:00pm PST virtually on Zoom with a FREE introductory workshop. After the free introductory session, participants may enroll for subsequent sessions, to be held monthly on the third Thursday of each month through October 2025.

This series is suitable for teens through seniors. Prior family history research is not required, but seasoned researchers are welcome to attend. Homework will be assigned after each session to provide guidance on researching and writing your family history between workshop sessions. Students are encouraged to participate in class. Handouts will accompany each presentation. Each session will include a writing component.

One-to-one private consultations can be arranged with the instructor at $75/hr via Zoom.

The Your Family, Your History workshop series has expanded to include three in-person field trips for local participants in the Bay Area to conduct family history research. Field trip registration is included for all full course registrants. Participants not enrolled in the full course may also register for individual field trips separately.   • Field trip to California Genealogical Society

About Linda Harms Okazaki:

Linda Harms Okazaki is a fourth-generation Californian, active in the genealogy and Japanese American communities in California and beyond. She is passionate about teaching Nikkei to research, document, and share their personal family histories. Her other areas of research include upstate New York, England, Australia, and the use of DNA in genealogy. Linda has been researching her husband’s ancestry since 2012, documenting his family in the internment camps and in Japan. A charter member of the Nikkei Genealogical Society, and a consultant for Ancestry.com’s Progenealogists, she is also a featured columnist for the Nichi Bei Weekly. Her column, Finding Your Nikkei Roots, is published bimonthly. Her guide to Finding Your Japanese Roots was updated in 2020 and is available in hard copy. Ms. Okazaki is the author of numerous articles, including the recent National Genealogical Society magazine article “Paper Sons and Picture Brides,” which was co-authored by Grant Din. She is a member of as the Association of Professional Genealogists, the Genealogical Speaker’s Guild, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Linda currently serves as the past president of the California Genealogical Society, is a past board member of the Nichi Bei Foundation, and serves as a family history consultant for Densho.

Join the Ito Yosakoi Dance Group's weekly classes to learn the lively, energetic dance style of Yosakoi dancing! Yosakoi dancing features choreographed group dances with traditional movements mixed with modern, uptempo music to make for a captivating dance style that is growing in popularity in Japan and abroad! No dance experience is necessary. Class members have the option of dancing with the class recreationally, or learning the group's repertoire to perform in public, including at local festivals like Cherry Blossom Festival and the Center's annual Children's Day Festival!

About Ko Ishikawa

Ko Ishikawa (performing shamisen as Hidekyoharu Fujimoto and koto as Kazuma Ishikawa) is a koto and shamisen instructor in the Bay Area. She has performed in the Bay Area, throughout California, and in Japan. Ishikawa sensei’s mission is to epitomize the Japanese spirit and Japanese culture through Japanese music here in the Bay Area and United States. She hopes by using the music of the Koto or the Shamisen, she can soothe the hearts of listeners.

Musical Training:

Koto: Grand Master (Dai-Shihan 大師範) Kazuma Ishikawa
Ishikawa sensei started practicing Koto in Japan with different Koto schools such as Miyagi Ryu (宮城流)and Todo Ryu 当道流)where she received 2 certificates. Later she studied Koto with the Ikuta-Ryu Chikushi School located in Fukuoka, Japan and became Grand Master (Dai-Shihan). She is currently the director of Ishikawa Kazuma Kai, and has been teaching and performing Koto in the Bay Area, throughout California, and Japan. She has been participating in the San Francisco Cherry Blossom Festival as a koto player since 1990.

Shamisen: Master (Shihan 師範) Hidekyouharu Fujimoto
Ishikawa sensei performs shamisen under the name Kyoharu Fujimoto, as she began her shamisen studies with Fujimoto Shamisen School located in Tokyo, Japan. She received Master (Shihan) and has been performing and teaching Shamisen since. She is the director of Fujimoto Hidekyouharu Kai through which she teaches shamisen for hauta, zokkyoku, kouta, minyo, and sangen for jiuta.
