You are invited to host a special event, “Nobuko Miyamoto’s 120,000 Stories,” in celebration of the Center’s 50th Anniversary at the Presidio Theatre in San Francisco on August 5th at 2 p.m.
With a team of eight musicians, this will be a multi-generational experience as Nobuko traces her roots to the Santa Anita Assembly Center in 1942, taking us through her early showbiz career on the Broadway stage and in Hollywood as one of a few Asian American performers, then her emergence in the 1960s as “Chris and Joanne,” with her embrace of her own Asian American identity and the power of inclusion. Nobuko’s stories address issues such as race, gender, multiculturalism, and climate change. She is as relevant today as she was 50 years ago when she, Charlie Chin, and Chris Iijima recorded the iconic “We Are the Children,” our anthem for the yellow movement that was part of the groundbreaking album “Grain of Sand.”
For a donation of $1,000 or more, you will be on the Host Committee and will receive:
- Premiere seating for two at the August 5th performance
- VIP access for two at the post-performance reception held on the patio of the Presidio Theatre
- Your name published in the event program and promotional material as a Host Committee member
- An invitation for two as Hosts for the wrap party dinner on Saturday, August 5th, for Nobuko and her team of musicians
If you are not able to participate at the $1000 level, please consider a VIP Sponsorship for $500, which includes VIP access for two at the post-performance reception and two premiere seats for the August 5th performance.
VIP Premiere Seating Sponsorship for $250 includes one premium seating ticket and access to the post-show reception at the Presidio for one person.
We hope you’ll join us on the Host Committee and welcome Nobuko back to the Bay Area!
