The Center is thrilled to collaborate with Alexandra Kitty, an artist, author, and educator with expertise in Kintsugi and metalworking. This is a unique opportunity to discover the art of Kintsugi and receive all the necessary materials for the experience!

Kintsugi is the Japanese tradition celebrating imperfections by mending ceramics with urushi lacquer. This technique creates pottery with golden seams, where the mended cracks become an integral part of the design, showcasing the beauty found within imperfections and flaws of the repaired artwork.

Registrants will be provided with a kit of kintsugi supplies prior to the workshop–all you need to provide is a broken dish! Kintsugi kit includes:

  • Tonoko Powder
  • Urushi Lacquer
