Mochi is a traditional Japanese confectionary beloved by those lucky enough to get it fresh. Sign-up today to learn how to make delicious mochi desserts online with Yukiko Zinke, expert mochi maker with over 20 years of experience! In this fun virtual workshop, you will learn how to make three different mochi dishes.
Workshop Menu:
- Daifuku mochi with fillings like sweet red bean and fresh strawberries, peanut butter and chocolate mini cups, nutella, and others
- Ice cream mochi with mini-scooped ice cream balls
- Mochi donuts glazed beautifully with vanilla, clear, or chocolate glaze
Other things to note:
Please feel free to use any ingredients you would like to fill your mochi with (peanut butter, mango, etc. All dishes except the ice cream are vegan friendly and gluten-free.
About Yukiko Zinke:
Yukiko Zinke is the mother of the mother and daughter team at Kaori's Kitchen cooking school. She has always been passionate about teaching guests how to make delicious dishes from her Japanese heritage. Yukiko was raised in Fukushima, Japan and learned how to cook traditional Japanese meals and desserts from her mother. Yukiko learned how to make mochi many years ago with her friends and has been making mochi now for over 20 years. In 2016, Yukiko's daughtetr Kaori started Kaori's Kitchen cooking school, where together they taught traditional mochi classes to guests across the SF Bay Area. Kaori also wrote the cookbook Mochi Magic and has previously taught mochi making workshops at the Center in person and virtually.
